Fort Walton Beach in August

The month of August is when summer is slowly coming to an end, so everyone is getting their last vacation in before school starts. Here in Fort Walton Beach, we have a lot of  activities and events happening throughout the month. Not sure what to do? Fear not, as we have compiled a list of our favorite things to do in Fort Walton Beach in August.

Parasailing

To start the month strong, try parasailing. Parasailing in Fort Walton Beach is exciting, especially since the beaches are less packed. Fort Walton parasailing can initially look intimidating, but it is not scary. When parasailing, you ascend in the air and float peacefully over town.  While up in the air, there is a high chance that you’ll see marine life swimming in the Gulf. Dolphin sightings are always a pleasant surprise when going parasailing. All you need to do is wear flip flops, sunglasses (with a strap), sunscreen, and bring a towel before going up in the air. Another essential part of making memories is having photos. Luckily, you can get a photo package here at Xtreme H2O Fort Walton Beach. So now, you no longer need to stress about bringing your phone up with you. The photo package gives you many photos that you get to keep and go through what you think are the best ones! Now grab your best friend to parasailing this August in Fort Walton Beach!

Jet Skis

Renting a jet ski is a fun experience for your family and friends. Get ready to feel the wind in your hair and the thrill of the open water!

The Boardwalk

The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island is an excellent spot to hit up in August, with many offerings. The Boardwalk has everything from food to shopping to entertainment, so you can find something for the whole group to do. When you are here, why not walk down to see the Gulf of Mexico? In the summer, they host the “Movies on the Beach,” which shows family movies for anyone to enjoy. This event is free for the public. Just make sure to bring blankets and beach chairs to view the film! Another free event you can attend is the Okaloosa Island Fireworks Show. On Wednesday, the night skies will light up in the Gulf with the fireworks show. You can grab some dinner and head out for a front-row view of the event.

Summer of Seltzer Fest

If you are a fan of hard seltzer, we have the perfect event for you. The Island Resort at Fort Walton Beach is hosting a new event, Summer of Seltzer Fest! This is exclusive for anyone 21 and older and will be at the Beach Patio by Tripp Tide Beach Bar.  At the Summer of Seltzer Fest, you will find over 150 different beverages to try. Some of these are local and nationally renowned brands that many of you have tried before! Besides trying all kinds of different seltzers, everyone can enjoy the live music performances and try out the engaging activities at the event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Special Forces Association Chapter 7. This organization directly supports the special forces community’s veterans, soldiers, and families. The Special Forces Association Chapter 7 continues to serve as a voice for the community in Florida. Giving a portion of the proceeds to this organization at the event allows everyone here to learn about the cause. After attending the event, you will have so many new flavors of seltzers to buy now!

Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park

The days are longer in August, so you should go somewhere with indoor and outdoor activities. The next place you should visit is the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park. Emerald Coast Poker Run

The 2024 Emerald Coast Poker Run is an event in August. Participants visit five of the seven checkpoints while drawing a playing card at each stop. The objective of the game is to have the best hand at the end of the run. It is a game of chance, which is fun to watch. The event itself has a time, but each participant does not. The Emerald Coast represents the Emerald Coast Foundation, which is committed to investing in youth for Northwest Florida. After the poker run, head to the after-party for the silent auction. Whether you are here to participate or watch, it is an event you can not miss this August in Fort Walton Beach.
